World Cement,
With highway funding guaranteed for five years under a new law, NSSGA experts offered a positive outlook for the entire aggregates industry during a webinar on 9 December.
“The last time we had a bill this long in highway transportation policy was 1998. It is long overdue,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO, of the bill that boost highway spending by 15 percent over the length of the surface transportation reauthorisation.
“Maybe even more important than money, though, it really creates predictability and stability for the state government. It allows them to get back to work, to get back to using the product that the aggregates industry produces to build the transportation infrastructure that our country and our economy need so desperately,” he explained. “In the process of doing that, the bill also makes meaningful steps to cut additional red tape and speed permitting so projects can get started more quickly.”
