ASTM presents Award of Merit

ASTM International’s Committee on Cement has presented the Award of Merit, its top annual award, to Chiara (Clarissa) Ferraris of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD, USA. The awards, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.
The committee honoured Ferraris for outstanding contributions and leadership in the development of standards related to cement and concrete materials. She has been a member of ASTM since 1994, serving as the vive-chairman of subcommittee CO1.29 since 2009. She received the Award for Appreciation in 2014.
Ferraris is a physicist in the engineering laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and technology (NIST) She has been with NIST since 1994. She is also a member of the American Concrete Institute and RILEM.
