Cement shortages reported in Michigan

World Cement,
Local media is reporting a cement shortage in Michigan, USA, causing delays on construction projects. Michigan Concrete Association has blamed the harsh winter of 2013/2014 for compressing the construction season, as well as a delay in shipping cement while the Great Lakes were frozen over, causing transportation bottlenecks.
The Michigan Department of Transportation’s projects, including a massive highway project, are said to take precedence over other customers’, leading some concrete customers to be told they are on a waiting list. The supply situation could ease in the coming weeks as the road construction season wraps up, although it is difficult to forecast what the coming winter will bring.
