Brookfield Cement plant celebrates 50 years

Brookfield cement plant celebrated its 50-year anniversary on 6 October, with over 100 stakeholders gathering in Nova Scotia to celebrate the past 50 years and look forward to the plant’s continued role in building Atlantic Canada. Brookfield is the only cement plant in the Atlantic.
Plant Manager Scarth MacDonnell welcomed local speakers such as Joe Ballard, President of the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, to reflect on the plant's contribution to the built environment in the Atlantic. Bob Taylor, Mayor of Colchester County and Larry Harrison, MLA (Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley) also reinforced the economic role of the plant.
Lafarge Eastern Canada CEO, Bruno Roux, thanked employees for their commitment to health and safety and emphasised Lafarge's pride in having contributed to building so many of the homes, buildings and roads that Atlantic Canadians use every day.
The Nova Scotian government was represented by Deputy Premier, and Minister of Justice and Attorney General, the Honourable Diana C. Whalen.
