China’s CATIC signs contract with Venezuela’s La Corporación Socialista del Cemento
On 21 July 2014, the President of Venezuelan cement group La Corporación Socialista del Cemento, Ángel Jesús Moreno Gudiño, signed an agreement with the President of China’s CATIC, Zou Kangning, for a new cement plant. The facility will be located in Los Arangues, in the state of Lara. It will have a production capacity of 1.2 million tpa.
During Chinese President XI Jinping’s visit to Venezuela in July, China and Venezuela signed 38 bilateral agreements. In addition to the cement contract outlined above, agreements relating to the oil, mineral, agriculture and transport sectors were also formed.
