New CEO for Grupo Argos

Jorge Mario Velásquez has been appointed CEO of Grupo Argos’ following a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors. He will replace José Alberto Vélez, who is retiring, from March 2016.
The Committee of Appointments and Retributions of the Board of Directors, which is mainly formed of independent members, headed the selection process.
The Board of Directors welcome Mr Velaásquez, and are confident that he possessed the expertise, experience and good qualities necessary to lead the company, continue its growth and consolidate its good governance policies.
Jorge Mario Velásquez has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Escuela de Ingenierías de Antioquia. He started his career with Grupo Argos as an intern in 1984, and spent his 30 year career working in many different areas of the company, including many positions of significant responsibility. Since June 2012, he has been CEO of Cementos Argos and has led it in its latest acquisition and international expansion operations.
Grupo Argos would also like to thank José Alberto Vélez for his performance and management during his time at CEO, leading the company’s consolidation process and enabling its growth as one of the most important conglomerates in Colombia.
