In the wake of major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy, the need for resilient construction, both in the US and worldwide, is becoming more and more apparent. According to the Portland Cement Association (PCA): “Enhancing the resilience of buildings through mandatory requirements that increase robustness, durability, longevity, disaster resistance, and safety should be a priority for every jurisdiction interested in improving community sustainability.”
