World Cement,
The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association has honoured the passing of Robert G. Bartlett, who died on 28 January 2016. Bartlett was a crucial figure in the aggregates industry throughout his life.
“Our industry has lost a truly great leader,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “Few people were as passionate about our industry as Bob. He sought to bring together two separate aggregates associations into one entity that represented the best of our industry and provided a clear voice on Capitol Hill for producers and the companies that serve them.”
As president of the National Stone Association, he frequently met with producers and association members around the country.
Bartlett was one of the key players in bringing that organisation and the National Aggregates Association together into NSSGA. He retired as president of the National Stone Association in 1997. During Bartlett’s tenure, the association doubled in membership size and the Aggregates Foundation was created with a US$5 million endowment for the Centre for Aggregates Research.
