Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in September 2015 amounted to about 9.0 million t. This is only a slight increase from September 2014. Shipments for the year through September totalled 68.2 million t, an increase of 3.2% from 2014. The leading producing states for Portland and blended cement in September were Texas, Missouri, California, Michigan and Florida, which accounted for 40% of the total shipments for the month. Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois were the leading cement-consuming states, and received about 37% of the September shipments.

Clinker production came to 6.7 million t in September 2015, a 3.3% decrease from September 2014. Production for the year through September was 55.9 million t, an increase of 2.4% from the previous year. The leading clinker-producing States in September were Texas, California, Missouri, Florida and Alabama.

Masonry cement shipments in September 2015 were down slightly from 2014, coming to only 222 000 t. Shipments for the year through September were up slightly, reaching 1.8 million t. The leading masonry consuming states were Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina and Georgia, which received 50% of September’s shipments.
