CEMEX has announced that one of its ready mix truck drivers has earned top industry honours at the National Ready-Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) National Mixer Driver Championships.
Thomas Comeau, a CEMEX mixer truck driver from Arizona, was awarded first place at the awards, having competed against 80 drivers across the event. Skills tests included vehicle handling, vehicle inspection abilities, and grades on written exams.
Comeau joined CEMEX in 2014 and has since dedicated himself to the company’s safety programme. He has won the title of best driver in Arizona for the past three years, which awards allowed him to compete in the NRMCA Nationals.
“Tommy Comeau [has] shown he is the best of the best,” said Eric Wittmann, Regional President of the West Region at CEMEX USA. “He is dedicated to safety and he has put in a lot of work by studying and practicing for this high achievement. We are extremely proud of his efforts.”
“Our drivers are the best in the industry and they are always working to maintain that status,” said Ignacio Madridejos. “They strive every day to provide a superior customer experience safely and efficiently. This achievement serves as a great example of what is possible through hard work and dedication.”
Other CEMEX drivers, Fernando Velasquez and Marcial Barrera, also received outstanding performance medals at the competition. This continues CEMEX’s success in the competition as veteran CEMEX driver, Dave Mangold, placed second in the competition in 2017.
“Our people and drivers are the backbone of all that we do,” said Guillermo Martinez, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Communications at CEMEX USA. “From the moment they start with CEMEX and through their entire employment, they put safety first. These drivers are the kinds of employees who make and keep CEMEX strong.”
CEMEX is a global building materials company that provides high quality products and reliable service to customers and communities in more than 50 countries throughout the world.
