Lafarge North America’s Presque Isle Quarry in Michigan has sponsored student scholarships at the 2016 Black Mountain Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Annual Hunting Heritage and Scholarship Awards Banquet. The event, which was held on 16 April, was attended by several employees from Presque Isle Quarries, who presented the awards.
The NWTF scholarships are awarded each year to graduating seniors who not only maintain a high grade point average, but also support the preservation of the wild turkey hunting tradition, participate in hunting sports and demonstrate dedication to conservation efforts through school and other activities. This year's scholarship recipients were seniors from Posen High School in Posen, Mich. Each student received US$250 toward higher education at an accredited institution.
"Presque Isle Quarry is honoured to be part of this year's NWTF annual banquet and to support these outstanding students who understand the importance of maintaining wildlife habitats," said quarry plant manager Allan Idalski. "Through these scholarships, we hope to encourage these students to continue in their conservation efforts."
