Portland cement dispatches contracted in Argentina in April 2014
Members of Argentina’s Portland Cement Manufacturers Association dispatched 905 584 t of cement in April 2014, inclusive of exports. This figure is 0.6% lower than in March 2014 and 7.1% lower than in April 2014.
Domestic cement consumption, including imports, reached 895 697 t in Argentina in April. This represents a decline of 0.3% m/m and 5.4% y/y.
According to figures released by Indec, the Argentine government’s statistics organisation, the country’s economy grew by 1.3% y/y in February 2014. Industrial production contracted by 0.6% during the month, while construction experienced a drop of 5.2% despite growth in the public works sector.
