CeraTech joins Task Force on Sustainability

CeraTech, the ‘green’ cement manufacturer, has joined the State of Maryland Task Force on Sustainability.
Senior Research Scientist at CeraTech, Ivan Diaz-Loya, PhD, has joined the task force formed by Dan Sejida, Director of the Recycled Materials Program, which aims to optimise the use of recycled materials and to reduce reliance on virgin resources. Alongside CeraTech, other companies on the task force include ready-mixed concrete suppliers, engineers and contractors from the power and construction sectors. There is a Fly Ash Subcommittee, chaired by Ann Couwenhoven of Raven Energy, which will work to identify short and long-term project opportunities and to research potential new uses for Coal Combustion Products (CCPs) throughout the state.
In June, worldcement.com reported that CeraTech had joined the ‘2030 Challenge for Products’ initiative, which aims to lower the carbon footprint of the built environment. CeraTech’s product is made with 95% flyash and 5% liquid additives and meets ASTM International standard C1157 as a hydraulic cement system.
