USGS cement report for February 2016

USGS has released its report on the shipment of cement to final customers and the production of clinker in the United States for February 2016.

Total shipments of portland and blended cement in the UnitedStates and Puerto Rico in February 2016 were about 6.0 million t, up by 26% from the exceptionally low, weather-related, sales in February 2015, and, in part, reflected catch-up work after a lacklustre January 2016.The leading producing States for portland and blended cementin February were Texas, California, Florida, Missouri, andAlabama, in descending order. The leading cement consumingStates (Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, andLouisiana, in descending order) received about 49% of theFebruary.

Clinker production totalled about 5.1 million t in February 2016, upby 11.4% from the output in February 2015. The leading clinker-producing States in February were, in descending order, Texas, California, Missouri, Florida, and Michigan, and these accounted for 56% of the total output for the month.

Masonry cement shipments of about 176 000 t in February 2016 were up by 28.5% from those of February 2015. The leading masonry-cement-consuming States were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, California, Georgia, and North Carolina; these received almost 59% of February’s shipments.
