Argentinian lime supplier, CEFAS S.A., has ordered a second PFR kiln from Maerz Offenbau. The new kiln will be installed at the Padre Bueno plant in the province of San Juan in the north of the country.

According to a Maerz press release, the Austrian company will supply engineering, license, knowhow, material, and equipment, as well as technical assistance services.

The new kiln is an E5 rectangular type with a capacity of 300 tpd of burnt lime. Actual production capacity will depend on the grade of limestone and range between 250 and 300 tpd.

The kiln is equipped with a natural gas and petcoke firing system. It will operate either with 100% petcoke or with a mixture of both fuels. Start-up is expected in mid-2018.

CEFAS is a leading lime producer to the Argentinian and Chilean markets. In 2016, the Mexican Calidra Group, one of the world’s largest lime companies, and the largest in Latin America, acquired a 51% stake in the company. Calidra Group is in turn part owned by Canadian lime producer, Greymont.
