World Cement,
NACC Shipping Canada has signed a long-term time charter agreement with Lafarge Canada for the provision of a pneumatic cement carrier early next year. The new cement carrier will transport cement from Lafarge’s plant in Bath, Ontario, to distribution facilities around the Great Lakes.
To provide the new cement carrier, NACC Shipping Canada will convert an existing bulk carrier. The conversion process will take around 10 months, following which the vessel will enter service. The carrier will have a maximum cargo deadweight of 12 5000 t.
NACC Shipping Canada will operate and manage the vessel in Canada.
NACC Shipping Canada is a subsidiary of NovaAlgoma Cement Carriers Ltd (NACC), a joing venture between Algoma Central Corp. and Nova Marine Holding. NACC was created in 2016 specifically to serve the transportation needs of the global cement industry.
The company currently has a fleet of nine cement carriers, with three additional cement vessel projects under development.
