World Cement,
The Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Mr. Juan Esteban Calle as CEO of Cementos Argos, as of 1 April 2016. Mr. Calle will replace Mr. Jorge Mario Velasquez, who has recently been named CEO of Grupos Argos. The selection process considered both internal and external candidates, and had the support of a specialised firm in selection processes for top executive management positions.
Juan Esteban Calle holds a bachelor’s degree in business from EAFIT University and has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. He has been CEO of the Empresas Publicas de Medellin since 2012, and throughout his career has held positions such as senior associate for Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, finance director for the Antioquia Department in Colombia, foreign investment director for Proexport in its Canada office and investment advisor for the Bank of Montreal. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Tigo-Une Comunicaciones, Empresas Varias de Medellin, Ticsa Mexico and ENSA Panama.
The Cementos Argos Board of Directors welcomes Mr. Juan Esteban Calle. At the same time, the board appreciates and highlights the leadership of Mr. Jorge Mario Velasquez, who, for over 32 years, developed a successful career at Cementos Argos.
