Nine Cemex ready-mix plants recognised by ENERGY STAR scheme

World Cement,

Nine of Cemex USA’s ready-mix concrete plants in Texas and New Mexico have qualified for the ENERGY STAR® Challenge for Industry Award. To qualify, sites must reduce their energy intensity by at least 10% within 5 years or less. Together, the Cemex ready-mix plants have achieved a reduction of 21% through the use of more energy efficient parts and equipment, such as dust collectors, conveyor belts and lighting.

The Texas-based ready-mix concrete plants that have received recognition are: Arcola Ready-Mix Plant, Iowa Colony; Tomball Ready-Mix Plant, Tomball; Cutten Ready-Mix Plant, Houston; Webster Ready-Mix Plant, Webster, TX; Edinburg Ready-Mix Plant, Edinburg; Harlingen Ready-Mix Plant, San Benito; Section 10 Ready-Mix Plant, El Paso. In New Mexico, the sites that have qualified are the La Luz Ready-Mix Plant, La Luz, and the Ruidoso Ready-Mix Plant, Ruidoso.

“Cemex is committed to sustainable practices throughout our operations and these awards are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to be stewards of the environment through effective energy management practices,” said Scott Ducoff, President, Cemex’s Texas/New Mexico Region. “We are honored to be recognised by the EPA and ENERGY STAR for our commitment to sustainable practices.”
