Essroc Italcementi Group appoints new CEO

Essroc Italcementi Group has announced the appointment of Alex Car as the company’s new President and CEO. Car previously served as Senior Vice President of Cement Sales and Marketing and General Manager of Construction Materials at Essroc.

Commenting on the announcement, Car said: “I am honoured to be appointed as Essroc’s CEO. It is a privilege to be part of an organisation that delivershigh-quality products and innovative solutions to the construction industry. I am committed to empowering Essroc’s talented team to realise our full potential and managing the company during this important period of change.”

Car succeeds Francesco Carantani, who will be undertaking new duties within the Italcementi Group.

This follows the announcement that HeidelbergCement plans to acquire the company for €3.7 billion, forming the largest supplier of aggregates and the second largest cement producer in the industry.

“Our number one goal is to provide a consistent supply of cement, concrete and aggregates to our customers. Essroc remains committed to create value through unparalleled technical service and marketing initiatives. The announced merger with HeidelbergCement uniquely positions us to take advantage of the combined strengths of two leaders in cement and construction materials,” added Car.
