Lafarge North America’s Ravena plant in New York organised a maintenance day on 19 May to help clean up the Deer Mountain Nature Trail. The preserve, which is owned by Lafarge, consists of 150 acres of land, including more than 3 miles of trails. It is home to a wide variety of plants and animals and is a frequent destination for local school children and those interested in learning about wildlife. It is recognised by the Wildlife Habitat Council as both a Corporate Lands for Learning Certified site and a Signatures of Sustainability site. During the maintenance day, employees from the Ravena plant and the Lafarge US Executive Committee worked alongside volunteers to prepare the trail and surrounding area for the summer season.

"Lafarge is committed to giving back to our communities and volunteer efforts such as this truly improves the natural resources available in Ravena," said Craig Campbell, Vice President, Public Affairs, Environment and Land for Lafarge US. "We hope to contribute to building better cities by coming together to devote time and effort to environmental and community programs that need us most."

"We are thrilled that so many people come out to support our efforts in maintaining this important piece of land," said Mike Kralik, Ravena Cement Plant manager. "We're proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the years at Deer Mountain Trail and are excited to continue working with our neighbors and local schools who use this land for recreation and education."
