Double-digit growth for Colombia’s cement industry in 2014

Figures released by DANE reveal that dispatches of grey cement increased by 10% y/y in Colombia in December 2014, reaching 996 000 t. On a regional basis, the biggest increases were in Bolívar (22.7%), Nariño (71.4%), Antioquia (7.1%), Cundinamarca (10.9%), Magdalena (32.4%), Santander (12%), Cesar (29.1%), Bogotá (4.2%) and Valle del Cauca (6.5%).

During the month, production volumes came in at around 1.142 million t, up 12.2% y/y.

Full-year 2014

Production volumes totalled approximately 12.397 million t in 2014, 10.2% higher than in 2013. Meanwhile, domestic dispatches improved by 10.3% y/y to 11.983 million t. Increases were seen in 20 of the 21 regions analysed by DANE.
