The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through its School of Architecture and the Mexican School of Construction (EMC), an initiative of Holcim Mexico to boost professionalisation of masons in the country, graduated the first generation 146 construction workers certified on diverse job skills.
Workers who received their diplomas are from the states of Mexico, Hidalgo, Michoacan, Puebla, Veracruz and Mexico City.
The EMC contributes to improving the skills of master builders and masons with specialised training, which helps them to improve more safely their activities. The training workers receive is free of cost.
The first generation of EMC obtained training and certification in theoretical and practical concepts for reading and interpretation of architectural drawings, masonry and finishes in buildings. These are themes directly related to their daily work.
Mexico Holcim is the first cement company in the country to create a school with these features for all workers who want to enhance their knowledge and skills on the job.
