Renewable energy plays a key role in industrial sectors' efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Holcim US, the nation's leading sustainable building solutions company, is on a quest to enter Purchase Power Agreements (PPAs) to introduce renewable energy solutions.

Lafarge Canada, a leading provider of sustainable construction materials, today announced a planned 5-year expansion of its collaboration with the Forêt-Boucher Foundation, a local environmental conservation organisation based in Quebec.

The goal is to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from existing cement plants and at the same time prospectively utilise the captured CO2 for other applications.

The Holcim Alpena plant in Michigan is celebrating the opening of its new whole-tyre, co-processing facility – a US$7.4 million, state-supported initiative that will safely and cleanly convert 22 000 t of tyres per year into energy.
