Transporting by train – part three

World Cement,

Keep on running

Building projects across the UK and Europe continue to be supported by rail. Those that DB Cargo UK has been part of in previous years include the Heathrow expansion programmes, CrossRail construction projects and the previously mentioned Olympic Park.

Rail freight can be used in combination with road transport and rather than being just a train provider, companies such as DB Cargo UK offer complete solutions for rail services including all transportation, terminal management and materials handling, for every type of product.

Rail wagons can be modified, as required, to optimise loads or meet the demands of individual products or projects. New wagons can also be supplied to meet customer demand and a new fleet of 90 wagons is being delivered to DB Cargo UK in Spring 2016, which will increase annual capacity by another 1.6 million t.

Rail is fast becoming the increasingly important logistics solution for the construction sector, keeping the industry efficiently supplied across the UK.
