World Cement,
Gebr. Pfeiffer is pleased to announce the latest addition to its portfolio of Low-Carbon Cement Mills:
A new order by Redwing Materials, a newly created business unit of Maschmeyer Concrete, for the grinding of granulated blast furnace slag at Port Redwing, Tampa, Florida.

It is a complete grinding plant designed as a compact Pfeiffer ready2grind system. The heart of this grinding plant is the highly efficient MVR vertical roller mill, which is equipped with 4 rollers, enabling active redundancy and thus maximum technical availability. Gebr. Pfeiffer has been a leader in the field of modular grinding plants since the commissioning of the world's first plant of this type in early 2017.
About the client: Founded as a homebuilder in Detroit, Michigan in 1948, the Maschmeyer family has grown its legacy into one of the state’s leading privately held, family-operated ready-mix concrete and building material suppliers. Since beginning operations in Florida in 1986, Maschmeyer Concrete has expanded its footprint across the Southeast, Central, and now the Tampa Bay Area.
The new grinding station marks a major strategic step for Maschmeyer into supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), aiming to vertically integrate its supply chain and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable construction solutions in Florida. The facility, located at Port Redwing, will utilize Gebr. Pfeiffer’s proven vertical mill technology, a ready2grind 3000 C-4 system featuring the MVR 3070 C-4 vertical roller mill powered by 1650 kW. The mill is equipped with an SLS 2900 VC classifier of the latest generation.
The scope of supply - from the feed rotary lock to the bag filter discharge - reflects Gebr. Pfeiffer’s commitment to providing compact, energy-efficient systems tailored to site-specific requirements. Given Florida’s coastal conditions, all equipment will be specially engineered to withstand hurricane winds and extreme weather.
Maschmeyer selected Gebr. Pfeiffer for its technical expertise in vertical grinding, energy efficiency, and compact modular design. The ready2grind technology also offers a significant advantage in CO2 reduction, short erection and commissioning timelines, and operational flexibility-critical factors in Maschmeyer’s decision.
This collaboration stems from a long-term relationship built on trust and technical excellence. Beginning with feasibility efforts in 2023, growing through every project phase, from layout design and material tests and permitting support. More than just a supplier, Gebr. Pfeiffer has become a long-term partner, working closely with Maschmeyer every step of the way. The plant is scheduled for commissioning in early 2027.
