Kjellberg introduces PSI 400

World Cement,

At the Blechexpo trade show in Stuttgart, Kjellberg introduced a new power source for versatile use that is particularly suited for plasma transferred-arc welding and plasma joint welding. With a maximum welding current of 400A, at a duty cycle of 100%, the PSI 400 has a very high level of productivity. During development, the focus was placed on providing intuitive operation via either a touch display on the power source or via a laptop. Different user levels offer different possibilities of influence on the welding parameters, and data management. At the simplest level, pilot current, main current, gas and flux qualities can be adjusted using a menu. The next level enables entering the welding mode, parameters for pulsed mode, gas and flux quantities using a graphic interface. The highest level provides full process control through free adjustment of all parameters.

Another advantage of the PSI 400 is that the high level of flexibility offered by the available operating modes: plasma, pilot or TIG. Up to two different kinds of flux or wires can freely be combined with one another, before the flux types are calibrated and managed in a database. The power source is then able to establish the pilot arc when the main arc is turned off during interval welding, enabling the quick re-ignition of the main arc. This prevents repeated HF ignition pulses and the lifetime of the consumables can be increased considerably.
