Doosan Construction Equipment showcases new products at Intermat

World Cement,

At the Intermat 2015 Exhibition in Paris, France, Doosan Construction Equipment presented a number of new products from the company’s Doosan Heavy, Bobcat and Doosan Portable Power ranges for the first time.

Intermat 2015 provided the venue for the first appearance of the new Doosan ‘-5’ ranges of crawler and wheeled excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks (ADTs) meeting the latest Stage IV emission regulations. Several Bobcat products were also shown for the first time, including the new S450 skid-steer loader, the new E17 to E20 1-2 t compact excavators and new Bobcat telehandlers such as the new TL358/TL358+ models. The stand display was completed by new generators and compressors from Doosan Portable Power, including several new Stage IIIA, Stage IIIB and Stage IV compliant models.

Among the new Doosan products, the new high performance DL300-5, DL350-5 and DL420-5 Stage IV compliant wheel loaders were premiered at the show. Like their larger counterparts, the new DL450-5 and DL550-5 wheel loaders, which were launched a few weeks before the exhibition, the new high performance DL300-5, DL350-5 and DL420-5 models provide another leap forward in wheel loader design as represented by new external styling, with increased productivity and fuel economy and features such as a new high comfort cab, powerful Scania Stage IV engines, smooth and responsive hydraulics, a ZF powertrain, axle cooling and auxiliary hydraulic connections. As in the previous DL-3 range, most of these features are standard on the new DL-5 wheel loaders.

The DL300-5 and DL350-5 wheel loaders are powered by the Scania DC09 5-cylinder diesel engine, with an output of 202 kW (271 HP) of power at 1800 rpm. The DL420-5 is powered by the Scania DC13 6-cylinder engine producing 254 kW (345 HP) of power at 1800 rpm. Providing generous torque at low rpm, up to a 10% reduction in fuel consumption and excellent response, the Scania engines meet Stage IV emission regulations without the need of a diesel particulate filter (DPF), through the use of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) after-treatment technologies.

The DL300-5, DL350-5 and DL420-5 are factory-installed with the new CoreTMS state-of-art wireless fleet monitoring system, a feature not previously available as standard on Doosan wheel loaders and now incorporated in all new DL-5 generation machines. The new CoreTMS system is a tool designed specifically for the Doosan range, providing comprehensive information about machine performance in a dual mode (satellite, Mobile network).

Among the new Bobcat telehandlers on the stand was the TL358+, which in common with the new TL358 model, is a new 6 m compact telehandler ideal for construction and rental markets, complementing the company’s existing TL360 and TL470 telehandlers.

The TL358 and TL358+ are both powered by the Deutz TCD 3.6 L4 Stage IIIB diesel engine providing 74.4 kW (100 HP) of power at 2300 rpm [the Perkins 1104D-44TA Stage IIIA engine providing 74.5 kW (100 HP) of power at 2200 rpm is used for lesser regulated countries].

Capable of operating in very confined spaces and at great speed, the maximum lift capacity of the TL358 is 2.6 t, whilst the TL358+ model has maximum lift capacity of 3.0 t. The maximum lift height of both models is 5.80 m with 20 inch tyres. The hydraulic system in both is controlled by a single Bobcat joystick in the cab linked to a Load Sensing Valve block to allow flow sharing depending on the operator choice and the application need.

The TL358 and TL358+ are very compact machines, thanks to the narrow frame design with a width of only 2.1 m compared to 2.3 m in the TL360/TL470 models. Combined with a height of just 2.1 m, they provide exceptional performance, comfort and visibility for machines of their size. They are also short machines, only 4.5 m long with an optimised 2.8 m wheel base for enhanced stability and a short turning radius of just 3.77 m.

As well as their compactness, another important attribute of the new TL358 and TL358+ telehandlers are their versatility, with two different machine dimensions offering compactness where it is required and top performance at all times. The cab can be mounted in two ways – in a low position that results in the very low 2.1 m height or a higher position to optimise visibility for the operator from the cab.
