World Cement,

Emami Cement Ltd., an enterprise of the private Emami Group of Companies, decided to set up a Greenfield cement works in Chhattisgarh. Work on the site is currently underway. For a separate grinding unit, which is to be built in West Bengal of India, the customer ordered an additional MVR cement mill of the latest design from Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, and its Indian subsidiary Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd. The order is currently being processed. The customer has also activated another order for a grinding plant, which is to be installed in Odisha, India.

The order covers an MVR 6000 C-6, with an installed drive power of 6700 kW. The grinding plant will be designed in a way to also allow fly ash cement and granulated blast-furnace slag to be ground to a fineness of 3800 cm2/g and 4000 cm2/g acc. to Blain respectively. The MVR 6000 C-6 features 6 rollers, which represent an innovative concept of an actively redundant system/ In the case of an unplanned outage of one grinding roller, this innovation allows the mill to continue in operation with four rollers, while the damaged roller is worked on outside the mill. For cement grinding, where the regular and planned maintenance works are scheduled for the regeneration of the grinding elements, this concept allows maintenance work to be undertaken on two rollers outside the mill, while at the same time continuing the production of cement, albeit at a lower capacity.

The modular design of the MVR mills means that the essential components will be designed to be identical to the parts of the MVR mills that have been supplied to the customer before. This will enable the customer to manage with a strategic pool of spare parts which can be used with all of his MVR mills.

Emami Cement Ltd. sought advice from Cemtech India and Holtec on the implementation of the new grinding plant – it was the positive experience of these consultants, who have been working with Gebr. Pfeiffer for nearly 20 years, that contributed to the customer’s decision.

Gebr. Pfeiffer will supply the core units of the mill and the gear units from Europe, with its Indian subsidiary providing components such as the housing of the mill and classifier, the steel foundation parts, as well as all static and dynamic interior parts of the classifier. It will also supply some of the equipment required to complete the grinding plant, as well as doing the plant layout and advising the customer on the equipment to be procured.
