World Cement,
Over 60 plant environment and mining department personnel from 9 CSI in India member companies participated in a series of three biodiversity management workshops conducted between August and September 2015.
CSI organised the workshops in India in partnership with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) India and Leaders for Nature.
These were hosted by three member company plants – Zuari Sitapuram, ACC Chanda and Shree Digvijay Cement Digvijaygram.
The participants were introduced to the basic terminology and concepts of biodiversity, ecosystems and ecosystems services, and the policy frameworks relevant for biodiversity management. The one and a half day programmes also provided exposure to various WBCSD & IUCN methodologies and tools available to managers to integrate biodiversity management into overall work plans.
The workshops were very interactive with sharing of existing knowledge and practices by participants from different companies.
