World Cement,
Around 100 guests from the construction industry, business, and politics went to Weil am Rhein (Baden-Württemberg) on 19 July to attend the opening of the new Holcim concrete plant. Werner Spilles, Head of Ready-Mixed Concrete at the Holcim Germany Group, Hagen Aichele, Head of Ready-Mixed Concrete Region South, and Frank Petersen, Production Manager, also attended the event.
Spilles noted in his welcome address that he was fortunate to open a new concrete plant. Petersen emphasised that it was possible to build the plant in the attractive location of Weil am Rhein in only nine months. He also took the opportunity to thank all employees.
Holcim has invested around €4 million in the new location. This includes a transshipment point with six different surcharges. To weigh the aggregates, a wheel loader with a calibrated balance was purchased. The plant is capable of producing 110 000 m3 of concrete/year. Lars Essert will lead the new concrete plant as Mischmeister.
