Cemex contributes to modern Berlin residence

Recent construction projects made possible with Cemex materials have given Berlin house hunters more options to consider.
Sapphire, a residential building designed by star architect Daniel Libeskind is taking shape in Berlin. Cemex are set to supply approximately 5000 m3 of ready-mix concretes for this project with a geometric façade resembling of a gem.
The futuristic Sapphire is the first residential building in Europe designed by Studio Libeskind. The architect says his design is based on a sapphire's roughness, boldness and resistant materiality, which he regards as characteristic for Berlin and its inhabitants.
The 10 000 m2, seven-story complex is located in Chausseestraße, just north of Berlin’s Mitte district, and is scheduled for completion in spring 2016. It is the second Studio Libeskind project to which Cemex has contributed in Germany, the first being the spectacular Kö-Bogen in the city of Duesseldorf, which was completed in 2013.
