Vicat aggregate sites qualify for highest level in environmental charter

Seventeen of Vicat’s aggregate sites in France have qualified for ‘Level 4’ in the quarry industry environmental charter, UNICEM. This is the highest possible grade, measured against the benchmark made up of 80 environmental good practices and regulatory obligations. In order to achieve Level 4, 95% of the points of the benchmark specific to quarries and recycling platforms must be checked positive. Vicat’s other aggregate sites in France are at Level 3 and working towards Level 4.

Vicat quarries comply with local ordinances and optimise their performance in respect to dust, noise and vibration reduction, waste, water and energy management, carbon balance, biodiversity and environmental management. Some of the Level 4 sites now seek to specialise in a given field, such as biodiversity, transport, energy or water.
