The Concrete Initiative has been officially launched

Yesterday saw the launch of The Concrete Initiative, which aims to engage stakeholders and raise awareness of concrete’s role in the development of sustainable construction in Europe. The initiative is composed of the European Cement Association (Cembureau), the European Federation of Precast Concrete (BIBM) and the European Ready-Mixed Concrete Organisation (ERMCO).

The launch took place in Brussels, bringing together key EU stakeholders to discuss sustainable construction and the regulatory framework required to achieve Europe’s goals.

Concrete is the second most consumed material in the world after water, and the most widely used construction material. Approximately 550 000 people are employed by the concrete industry in the EU, generating around €65 000 added value per employed capita pa.
