Holcim joins the Green Building Council Spain

Through this alliance, the company will offer all its expertise in the development of cutting-edge materials and solutions aimed at the construction of sustainable and carbon-neutral cities, while GBCE will provide meeting spaces and exchange of knowledge for the generation of proposals and initiatives.

This agreement comes at a key moment considering the need to accelerate the decarbonisation of the built environment, responsible for approximately 40% of global CO₂ emissions and a proportional part of the consumption of natural resources. According to experts, direct emissions from construction will need to be halved by 2030, in order for the housing stock to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Mariano García, Director of Sustainability at Holcim Spain, points out that, “We are convinced of the importance of establishing synergies and alliances like the one we signed today to continue contributing to sustainability in the construction sector.
