The British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations who have demonstrated a real commitment to protecting their workers from the risk of injury and ill health during the 2015 calendar year. These awards are open to organisations of all types, sizes and sectors in the UK and internationally – both members of the British Safety Council and non-members – and are independently adjudicated. What’s more is that these awards help promote the social, economic and business benefits of employers maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “Winning an International Safety Award enables organisations to share their achievement with their employees, clients, contractors, local community and the wider public. It may also help inspire other organisations to also make that commitment and emulate the success of our winners.”

These prestigious awards relate to the health and safety management at a specific site or business unit and organisations can enter as many sites or divisions as they wish. High performing winning organisations are shortlisted for additional ‘Sector Awards’ recognising outstanding sites and business units across a number of business sector categories.

All organisations entering the awards can also nominate employees for two awards recognising individuals who have gone the extra mile to help keep their colleagues and others healthy and safe during 2015. The Health and Safety Champion of the Year Award recognises non-health and safety personnel aged 24 or over and the Young Health and Safety Champion of the Year Award recognises non-health and safety personnel aged under 24.

The winners of the 2016 International Safety Awards will be invited to celebrate their success at a spectacular gala dinner at London’s famous Grosvenor House Hotel on the night of Friday 6 May 2016. The black-tie event is attended by hundreds of businesses and individuals from around the world, and features the formal presentation of the awards, a fine dining experience and an evening of live entertainment and dancing.
