VDZ moves into new premises and reveals company rebrand

World Cement,

VDZ has recently moved into its new premises at the beginning of September. The company is delighted that it has now successfully completed such an important and sustainable project.

For the employees of VDZ, moving into the new building is a dream come true. It is also a milestone in VDZ’s history. The company has been working towards this move for many years and is happy and proud that it has now reached its goal. For more than 60 years VDZ’s research institute in Duesseldorf’s Tannenstrasse had been the home and focal point not only for many generations of its employees, but also for representatives of the global cement industry and many friendly institutions and organisations in Germany and all over the world.

VDZ's move to its new address at Toulouser Allee is the start of a new era. But as VDZ has always supported and contributed to numerous innovations in the cement world, the new premises will continue to be an important source of impetus for the domestic and international cement industry, forming the central hub of a network spanning the entire cement and concrete value chain.

The move to the new building has been accompanied by a new VDZ brand identity which can be seen for example on the company’s website or various print media. At an early stage, VDZ talked to representatives of the VDZ Executive Board, its member companies and various stakeholders from Germany and abroad about what – in essence – makes VDZ what it is. They worked out what is special about VDZ and what it means to all the people involved with it. VDZ’s professional competence, its independence and its identification with the entire cement and concrete value chain were underlined. In particular, however, the openness of VDZ to constantly embrace change became especially clear.

Finally, the company’s new claim ‘Evolving the well-established’ emerged from these discussions. In view of the greatest challenge currently facing the cement industry – to decarbonise its value chain – it will be particularly important to keep looking ahead anew.

Please also note that the names of two of the companies have changed in accordance with a new brand identity as follows:

  • VDZ gGmbH is now VDZ Technology gGmbH
  • FIZ GmbH is now VDZ Service GmbH

The new company names reflect more strongly the affiliation of these companies with the VDZ Group, and also the group’s commitment to competence and quality.
