World Cement,

Eurocement’s Chairman Filaret Ilyich Galchev has been awarded the state award of the Russian Federation – the medal ‘For Service to the Motherland’ II degree. The award recognises Filaret Ilyich’s achievements and many years of diligent work. It was presented by the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin on behalf of the Russian President.

Mayor Sobyanin said that Moscow is one of the largest construction sites in the world and that it was impossible to work without high-quality materials and the skills and employees of the construction industry.

Mr Galchev began his career in the coal industry before investing in cement. As well as Eurocement, Mr Galchev has a stake in the Holcim Group, being the second biggest shareholder of that group. Eurocement holds a 35% stake in the Russian cement market.
