World Cement,
According to the Trend news agency, Turkmenistan is to build a new 1 million tpy cement plant in the Koytendag region. This region, situated in the Lebap province, is renowned for its rich limestone reserves and already has an established railway network that will facilitate increased export opportunities from the region. The plan, announced by the country’s industry ministry, falls into the ‘Program for Development of Construction and Industrial Sectors in 2012 – 2016’, designed to modernise the country’s building materials infrastructure.
Earlier this year, media reported that a tender had been issued for a cement plant in the Baharly district. According to USGS data, Turkmenistan currently has three state-operated cement plants, each with a capacity to produce 1 million tpy of cement.
