The president and CEO of Cemex Spain SLU Operations, Jaime Ruiz de Haro, has been elected as president of the Association of Manufacturers of Cement in Spain. He will be replacing Isidoro Miranda, CEO of LafargeHolcim, Spain. As part of this new responsibility, Ruiz de Haro will be taking up the challenge to develop and implement initiatives to revive the Spanish cement sector, something he stressed in his first statement after the appointment.

Among the sector’s priorities is promising constructive solutions for more and cost-efficient infrastructure that will improve the lives of citizens without incurring a long term increase in public spending. Ruiz de Haro also stressed the importance of circular spending in the cement industry, an initiative that avoids sending waste to landfill or increasing the energy dependence of the industry, and aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

Jaime Ruiz de Haro was born in Barcelona and studied Economics at the University of Barcelona. His entire career has been spent with Cemex, and he has held his current position as president of Cemex Spain since 2011.

The Board also approved the appointment of four vice presidents: Isidoro Miranda, CEO of LafargeHolcim Spain; Jorge Wagner, CEO of Votorantim Cimentos, Spain; Francisco Zunzunegui, Business Director for Spain and the United Kingdom Cementos Portland Valderrivas; and Salvador Fernández Capo, CEO of Cementos Molins.
