Porvair enhances eco efficiencies
Porvair Filtration Group, which provides filtration equipment to the energy, process, bioscience, aerospace and nuclear industries, has outlined the ways in which it is improving its eco awareness and reducing emissions. The company, which has manufacturing facilities in the UK and US, has introduced the UK government’s guidance on measuring and reporting GHG emissions according to DEFRA guidelines, using conversion units provided by the Carbon Trust. The group reports both its direct and indirect GHG emissions in tonnes of CO2. Its intensity ratio decreased from 0.224 in 2010 to 0.153 in 2014.
Porvair has also been working to increase efficiency at its operational facilities. LED lighting has been installed at its site in New Milton, Hampshire. This facility has been re-roofed and the external walls have been fitted with high insulation cladding. New thermally efficient boilers have also been installed. Porvair is introducing similar insulation and lighting standards at its US plant in Caribou, Maine.
“Porvair Filtration Group is committed to making sustainable environmental improvements across all of its operations, realising efficiencies that benefit our customers, staff, and the environment,” commented Tom Liddell, Porvair’s Managing Director. “While we have been encouraged by the results of our efforts to drive down emissions, we are dedicated to maintaining that progress and further improving on it. Fundamentally, we have a responsibility to the environment and the communities in which we operate, so reducing emissions and energy consumption will remain a key focus for the company going forward.”
