Bilfinger signs contract with CEMEX Polska

World Cement,

Bilfinger’s cement specialists are installing refractory linings at a cement plant in Poland. The Group is also carrying out assembly work on various parts of the CEMEX Polska plant. The contract comes under Bilfinger’s Engineering and Maintenance Continental Europe division.

Bilfinger has specific, cross-sectional expertise when it comes to planning and increasing energy efficiency measures. The company has tailored these capabilities to the needs of the cement industry.

CEMEX is to draw on Bilfinger’s know-how for the addition of a new cement clinker production line at Rudniki in Poland. A team of approximately 50 experts is installing refractory linings for parts of the plant. This entails using around 2000 t of refractory material within a 5 month period. The contract also includes assembly work during the installation of CEMEX Polska’s new production line.

For this project, Bilfinger is able to rely on its teams at the Bilfinger Service Center in Ozarów, Poland. Two task forces, one specialising in refractory work and the other focused on the mechanical side, have been deployed for CEMEX Polska. The work is centering on the extensive field of turnarounds, i.e. the general overhaul of large-scale facilities. Other activities involve maintaining crushers, mills, and conveyors, as well as replacing rotary kiln components, such as the girth gear.

In the past, Bilfinger has worked on contracts in Poland for cement producers CRH and Dyckerhoff.

“By delivering gains in process efficiency and system reliability, we are able to raise plant availability levels across the board,” said Tom Blades, Bilfinger, CEO. “By making the plant more efficient overall, we can boost productivity and help cut cement cost per tonne by making us the go-to provider for clients like CEMEX Polska.”
