Evans Concrete Products has won the Excellence in Manufacturing Prize, for the second year running, at the 2016 Derby Telegraph Business Awards.

The company impressed judges with its continued strong growth over the past 12 months. This has been achieved following a series of major contract wins including a multi-million pound deal to provide concrete for Crossrail station platforms and infrastructures, as well as the redevelopment of the new Princess Royal stand at Jockey Club-owned Cheltenham Racecourse.

Alongside these national achievements, Evans also demonstrated its ability to meet the award’s specific criteria of upholding manufacturing traditions of the local area, while continuing to strengthen the regional economy.

The award was hotly contested, with Evans beating fellow shortlisted companies Bowers Electrical and Danzer, themselves highly-respected and successful businesses.

Company chairman Garry McBride collected the award at a ceremony at Derby’s historic Roundhouse, only a few hundred yards from one of the company’s most viewed projects – the plinth of the statue of Derby County legends Brian Clough and Peter Taylor outside the club’s iPro Stadium.

“Our recent contract wins show Evans Concrete to be a truly national company which can hold its own amongst the big players in the industry,” explains Garry McBride. “However, our roots are definitely in Derbyshire. We understand the importance our success has on the local community, both in terms of its economy and employment – we are proud to say that over 80 percent of our workforce lives within a three mile radius.

“Receiving this respected award not only demonstrates that we are a serious and motivated contender in the precast concrete industry, but that the consistent hard work of our employees has been recognised. After all, it’s their skill and expertise that deliver the design, quality and installation standards, of our concrete products.

“We’re delighted to have impressed the judging panel and are extremely proud of this achievement. We have high expectations for the future, in terms of growth and innovation within the precast concrete industry, but we’re confident we will achieve, and surpass them with the continued hard work of everyone within the company,” concludes Garry.
