Azerbaijan witnesses a rise in construction materials output

According to data release by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, construction materials companies in the country produced AZN23.2 million worth of goods in January 2014, a 7.8% y/y increase compared to the same month in 2013.
In January 2014, Azerbaijani companies produced 164.9 t of cement (a 41.5% y/y increase), 9300 t of plaster (a 52% y/y decrease) and 63 800 t of ready-mixed concrete (a 25.4% y/y decrease). The production of concrete building structures has doubled, reaching 5.3 million t.
Government spending on construction
The Azerbaijani government invested AZN660.7 million (more than 6.3% of its total resources) in the country’s construction sector in January 2014. AZN378.5 million of this was spent on the execution of construction works.
The allocation of funds resulted in the construction of 120 500 m2 of residential properties in January 2014. The budget also included the building of public infrastructure, such as schools, health centres, youth clubs and sports facilities.
