Schenck Process logistics solution for cement plant in Russia

World Cement,

An automated logistics solution from Schenck Process has gone into operation at HeidelbergCement’s Tula plant in Russia. The solution, called LOGiQ®, measures incoming and outgoing goods using calibrateable road vehicle weigh bridges. Ultrasonic sensors and barriers are used to ensure the truck is positioned accurately on the weigh bridge, while goods entering and leaving the plant by rail are dynamically weight when the trains are in motion using a MULTIRAIL® track scale.

Tula cement plant project

The Tule plant is located around 150 km south of Moscow. The automated logistics solution from Schenck Process is a pilot project for the development of a common solution for the Eastern European market. The system was tailored to the plant’s requirements and, in addition to the weigh bridge and truck scale, the logistics solution includes loading bays for lorries, loading terminals for bulk and bagged materials, DISOMAT® weigh and measurement electronics, static track scales for the loading of wagons, contactless ID cards and the appropriate read and write systems for the dispatch area, plus the matching LOGiQ® logistics software.

Follow-up project in Kazakhstan

Rainer Liebel, SD Business Analyst, Group IT, HeidelbergCement, said: “The LOGiQ® system is essential to the simple, transparent cost and time efficient measurement of the flow of goods at the Tula plant. All the relevant data is also shared with our IT systems online, allowing us to achieve a high level of automation while making manipulation highly unlikely.”

Thanks to the successful implementation of this solution at Tula cement plant, HeidelbergCement has placed a further order with Schenck Process for a LOGiQ® system at a cement plant in Kazakhstan.
