A CO2-reduced product portfolio is a key component of Holcim's sustainability strategy. After the introduction of the sustainable ECOPact concretes at the beginning of 2020, Holcim is now placing the ECOPlanet CO2-reduced cements on the building materials market, which, thanks to their optimised composition, produce significantly less CO2 emissions than conventional cements. As the first cement producer in Germany, Holcim also offers a CO with the bagged cement ECOPlanet ZERO (CEM III A / 42.5 N)2-neutral product that is suitable for all standard applications.

The complete compensation of the remaining CO, which is still technically unavoidable today in emissions for bagged cement, is made through the acquisition of MoorFutures certificates. MoorFutures supports rewetting projects for moors in various federal states – a contemporary and effective instrument for CO2- Offsetting, because peatlands are the largest and most effective carbon stores on earth.

In addition to the bagged cement ECOPlanet ZERO for professionals and do-it-yourself-ers, Holcim offers three more CO2-optimised types of cement as silo goods for ready-mixed concrete plants and precast manufacturers. The calculation of the CO2-content of ECOPlanet cements is based on life cycle assessments according to DIN EN 15804 and considers the production steps from the extraction of the raw materials to the finished product (cradle to gate).
