Ulyanovsk Governor signs MoU for new Russian cement plant

Sergey Morozov, Governor of Russia’s Ulyanovsk region, and Arthur Chebotarev, CEO of Ulyanovskcement (part of the Eurocement Group), have signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a new environmentally friendly and energy efficient dry process cement plant. The production capacity of the new plant will be 3 million tpa of cement. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2017.

The US$80 million contract for the supply of equipment, design, installation supervision and training of staff for the construction of the new plant was signed by Eurocement and China Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd (part of CNBM) on 20 May in Shanghai in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin during his official visit to China. The contract includes the supply of mechanical and electrical equipment, automation equipment, as well as the instrumentation for the kilns and the installation of the cyclone preheater, crushers and cement mills.

Sergey Morozov commented: “Our partnership will help create the infrastructure for the development of Novoulyanovsk and the region as a whole. The volume of investment in the project, only at the initial stage, will be RUB6 billion. This will bring the organisation of production to a new level."
