Magnezit completes production facility in Russia

World Cement,

Magnezit Group has completed a large-scale investment project in Satka, Russia. The group has established a facility for the production of periclase clinkers, the largest production plant of its kind in the region. The material is used for manufacturing modern refractories, utilised by the cement industry as well as in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy plants.

Construction of the facility commenced in 2008 with a 50 000 tpa capacity high temperature shaft kiln from Maerz. In 2013, Polysius AG commissioned a further high temperature shaft kiln with a production capacity of 80 000 tpa. The plant comprises a multi-hearth furnace, with 19 furnaces each equipped with high efficiency gas burners. The facility features state-of-the-art equipment, meeting international standards in terms of both energy efficiency and environmental safety. Raw material is sourced from Magnezit Group’s own deposit in Krasnoyarsk Area.

Magnezit is the sole producer of burnt magnesia clinker in Russia and the CIS, and the new plant will help it to further its position in the region.
