New carbon neutral initiative from HeidelbergCement
Climate protection is at the centre of HeidelbergCement’s environmental policy. As an energy-intensive company, HeidelbergCement works hard to reduce the impact of
its cement production and logistics on the climate. This is also the case for HC Benelux, and its customers follow the same trend.
In line with this, HC has developed a CO2 offsetting programme. The carbon neutral initiative is an easy and credible way to exceed the emission reductions that are feasible today by supporting certified projects that have a positive impact on the climate. HeidelbergCement purchases CO2 credits to give its customers in the Benelux countries a way to ‘offset’ the emissions related to the construction of a building or infrastructure. Investment will be in projects that comply with the strictest environmental standards and with a particular focus on renewable energy such as wind, solar or biomass.
This offset system is the first running programme of this type within HeidelbergCement Group. It can easily be introduced to all markets of HeidelbergCement.
