Refratechnik expands portfolio with Burton acquisition
Germany’s Refratechnik Group has announced the acquisition of Burton GmbH & Co. KG, which is based in Melle, Germany. The latter will now operate under the name of Refratechnik Ceramics GmbH.
The takeover allows Refratechnik to expand its operations within the field of industrial furnaces for the ceramics industry, as well as benefitting from Burton’s ‘Industrial’ customer base and product portfolio.
The ‘Industrial’ division manufactures products for coal-fired power plants and waste incineration plants, and for application in the steel, primary aluminium, non-ferrous metallurgy and glass industries. The takeover also includes Burton Kiln Furniture, Hungary, which produces cast refractory materials.
The acquisition means that Refratechnik now operates 18 facilities across four continents. This includes two raw materials sites and nine state-of-the-art facilities for the production of burnt, shaped and unshaped refractory products.
