World Cement,
Hope Construction Materials has finalised the supply of nearly 12 000 m3 of ready-mixed concrete to a new Scottish wind farm. The renewable energy project is being constructed by specialists Community Windpower Ltd.
Each of the 19 new wind turbines will stand at 145 metres, amongst the tallest in the Uk. The concrete has provided the foundations for each turbine at the Aikengall II Community Wind Farm.
Hope’s Dunbar and Dalkieth readymix plants supplied the bespoke concrete using 17 mixer trucks over a two-month period.
Set to be commissioned in August 2016, the wind farm will generate 68.4 MW of clean, green, locally sourced energy, supplying electricity to more than 42 000 homes, displacing around 77 000 t of carbon dioxide per annum.
